Eco-imperialism, by Paul Driessen
|
Eco-Imperialism: Green Power, Black Death, by Paul Driessen. Extreme environmentalism creates havoc for many people. This is especially true in the Third-World where pressure from environmental activists has brought starvation, disease, death and poverty to millions. Environmentalists resist the dissemination of advanced agricultural methods (exacerbating hunger the world over) as well as the use of pesticides to control mosquitos (that kill millions every year by carrying malaria). The emphasis on expensive and inefficient solar power by green groups has kept many regions economic backwaters, because environmentalists resist the use of wind power (because it kills birds), hydro-power (because it displaces people and kills fish), and fossil fuels (because of unproven claims of global warming). One would think they did not want the Third-World to produce electricity at all. In this masterful and important work, Paul Driessen illustrates how green activists couched in their world of plenty impose their untenable ideas on the Third-World and in the process create suffering and death.
