A Poverty of Reason, by Wilfred Beckerman

A Poverty of Reason: Sustainable Development and Economic Growth, by Wilfred Beckerman. This slender volume by a professor emeritus in economics is a convincing argument that restricting economic growth is not only immoral, but foolish. Professor Beckerman successfully takes on the proponents of "sustainable growth". In the 1970s they argued that, at the present rate of growth, we would be out of resources in 30 years. Time has proved them mistaken. Even so, they continue to cry like chicken little that the sky is falling. This treatise is a dose of common sense in a discussion that is noted for fuzzy thinking and emotional blackmail by the left.
