"Founders' Fables"
By Laurie Cockerell, Travis Dougherty
"Founders' Fables", by Laurie Cockerell and Travis Dougherty is a compilation of ten fables that explain the principles of sound government. The fables are written in rhyme and accompanied by colorful illustrations.
Each story addresses issues mistakenly believed by many to be too complicated for kids. Funny characters with memorable personalities convey the conservative message clearly and accurately.
Each fable begins with a quote from one of the nation's founding fathers. Each story is also followed by age-appropriate discussion questions as a kind of teacher's or parent's aid. There is also an art activity that will inspire children to a deeper understanding. Some of the topics addressed: self-reliance, limited government, government regulation, eminent domain, and the crucial national debt.
"Founders' Fables" is on the recommended reading lists of Constituting America and NFRW's Mamie Eisenhower Library Project.
