The Conservative Monitor - Polls in America

Polls and the President

Recent poll ratings indicate that most people love the sitting president of the United States, William Jefferson Clinton. Polls also reveal that most government policy makers believe that the average American is not well enough informed to make decisions for the country.

Polls have been berated in the Conservative Press lately. Conservative skepticism of polls and studies is justified in that such things can easily be slanted to favor a particular political perspective. Nevertheless, it would seem that most American's do love the president - at least his job performance. A few casual conversations with your neighbors should easily reveal this truth. Additionally, logic may show the policy wonks in the government to be correct: most Americans are too ignorant of the facts to make informed decisions.

The public must be ignorant of the facts in order to continue to support a President who has so blatantly violated the law, morality, and common decency. Of course, his supporters would stipulate that most of his crimes have not been proven. Yet most of the allegations bear the ring of truth. Many cannot be conscientiously denied. How could a public cognizant of the obvious bribery inherent in the First Lady's cattle-gate transactions support the President? How could a public aware of over 900 FBI files used by the Clinton Administration to illegally dig dirt on political opponents believe in this man? How could honest men and women in the face of the President accepting illegal donations from the Chinese, likely in exchange for US missile guidance technology (constituting both bribery and treason), maintain this man as Commander and Chief of our armed forces? How could responsible people view with favor a man who has obviously used his office to obtain sexual favors from subordinates? How can an informed public put up with obvious bribery in the White House evidenced by Indian Tribe donations to the DNC in exchange for excluding other tribes from casino gambling? How could persons cognizant of illegal transactions and the blatant scamming of the elderly at Whitewater continue to support the Clinton Administration? The list goes on…

In the face of such evidence one can only conclude that the public is either uninformed, or lacks the intelligence to understand the situation or are simply so jaded as not to care that the US is belaboring under the most corrupt administration in the history of the nation.

I would like to believe the public is not stupid or jaded. Perhaps they are uninformed. If so they are negligent in having shirked their responsibility to monitor the government. In any case, not much can be said for American society. All of those wonks in the government are right: the people can't make informed decisions.
