Out of America, by Keith Richburg

Out of America: A Black Man Confronts Africa (hb, 288pp), by Keith Richburg. Mr. Richburg is a veteran foreign correspondent for the Washington Post. Based for three years in Nairobi, he had the opportunity to see what the continent of Africa is all about. He found a continent of squalor and violence brought on by the culture endemic to the area. He sees himself as an American, not a hyphenated American. He rejects the notion that blacks should look to Africa for their identity and we all have a much better place to look right here on our own continent.
