Social Problems in a Free Society: Myths Absurdities, and Realities, by Myles J. Kelleher. This book takes a new approach to old problems that have arisen in America and other free societies. He first defines what a social problem really is. Kelleher rejects Marxist notions that social problems are rooted in economic disparity or in the perspective of a statistically sufficient number of people. He says that social problems begin when the rights of individuals are infringed upon. It is his definition of rights and freedoms that provides the underpinning for his analysis. The major issues of the day, including social justice, violence, population growth, guns, drugs and racism are studied. This is a fascination book that will change the face of sociology and the way it is studied. A must read for anyone interested in sociology or modern democracy.

We the People: Laying the Foundation, compiled and edited by James F. Gauss, Ph. D. American freedom is founded on thin parchment - documents written long ago, sometimes in archaic English, that bind our people and our government. Beginning with the Ten Commandments and the Magna Carta, flowing through John Locke's Second Treatise on Government and culminating in Patrick Henry's stirring speech and stopping just short of the Declaration of Independence, this volume binds together all the great documents that undergird our constitutional freedom. Reading these documents, it is striking to find out how important was the influence of God in granting us our rights and responsibilities. Dr. Gauss introduces each document with an essay that explains its context and significance. This is a book that should be on a shelf in every library and required reading for every young person of college age.

The Real Man's Cookbook, by W. J. Rayment. Conservative ideas are beginning to seep into the mainstream of American culture via the conservative author. "The Real Man's Cookbook", by one of our editors, is a great example of this trend. It contains irreverent humor, a conservative view of the world and best of all recipes that are simple, fun and taste great. Each recipe is accompanied by a short essay that puts a new twist on the culinary arts. It provides not merely food for the gullet, but food for thought. A great read, even if you don't care to cook.

American Health Care: Government, Market Process and the Public Interest, edited by Roger D. Feldman. This powerful and timely book examines why harmful consequences are generally the result when government gets involved in health care (or anything else for that matter). This no-nonsense series of essays demonstrates how current hospital-rate regulation actually raises hospital prices, and how FDA regulation is a major cause of the escalating cost of new drugs. Far from simply pointing out the problems inherent in the present health care system (and solutions proposed by the liberals), it proposes its own solutions including medical savings accounts and private health contracts. A must read for anyone who has a stake in the direction health care will take in the future. (That means all of us who are still breathing!)

Lifting the Fog of War, by Admiral Bill Owens with Ed Offley is a layman's study of the U. S. Military, where it is and where it is heading. In this ground breaking work the Admiral lays the foundation for arguments about how the information revolution will affect wars of the future. He looks at the digitization and integration of the military and attempts to look beyond the framework of its current structure. This book is essential for anyone interested in modern military affairs.

Intended Consequences : Birth Control, Abortion, and the Federal Government in Modern America, by Donald Critchlow. The debate over abortion and birth control rages loud and furious in this country, and well it should. It pits the adamant defenders of the unborn against the raucus feminist proponents of bodily rights. This is an issue that strikes to the heart of who we are and what we shall become...Malthusian policy wonks afraid of a burgeoning population that sucks down limited resources promote family planning in its widest sense; while some libertarian minds see the industrial age putting natural limits on population growth - without the need for libertine abortion policies that strip away even the most basic rights of the unborn. Mr. Critchlow, in his new book, "Intended Consequences", makes a fascinating and detailed study of the government's expanding roll in modern "family planning" since the Second World War. The analysis is crisp and informative, addressing the various twists and turns of federal intervention in the lives of the individual - why certain policies were pursued and their consequences for society...intended and otherwise. This policy history is a vital work for anyone interested in the debate over abortion.

The Redtape Letters: Unmasking the DEVIL in Latter-day Liberalism, by Lee Whipple is a light and witty work that carries a pointed message. In a style reminsicent of C.S. Lewis Mr. Whipple has produced an entertaining novel that also reveals how the liberal elite poisons the minds of the masses. Redtape, a liberal senator sends letters to his Ivy League nephew instructing him on how to convert his conservative room mate into a slobbering minion of liberalism. Redtape is intelligent, sly and erudite. His letters make him almost endearing while at the same time we revile his methods and ideas. Mr. Whipple reveals how liberals steal our freedoms while making us love them for their crimes. This book will be a conservative classic.
